Gorgeously Green Gathering 2016

Finally, here are some pictures from Gorgeously Green Gathering 2016 that I attended last weekend with my lovely friend Hannah. It was originally planned that Rhys would be coming with me again this year but due to unforeseen circumstances, he could no longer attend. And so, after a wee freakout about how I would afford the hotel on my own, it came to be that Hannah would be attending with me and I'm glad to report that she really enjoyed it! So I had a brilliant time AND managed to convert a friend to green beauty...

The event was organised by the ever amazing Sarah and Jen, sponsored by Totally Organic, and we had the pleasure to hear from some great brands like Mallow & White, Terre Verdi, Evolve Beauty, and Beeutiful. Hearing brands' origin stories is always one of my favourite parts of GGG and they all had such lovely stories to share with us. It was also super exciting to see Amber get up and do a quick talk about Blossom Balm, her collaboration with Joanna of Mallow & White (unfortunately, not vegan!).

I'm always a big fan of GGG because of its huge social aspect. Not only is it a great opportunity to meet up with some of my fave blogger babes, but you can't really beat a whole day of networking with some seriously inspiring brands. It's so lovely to talk to founders face-to-face, learning about their products, and really hearing first hand about what got them into green beauty. I'm also consistently humbled by how generous the brands are and not only did we all walk away with a smashing goody bag, but we even got to pour our own Terre Verdi cleansing oil (thanks Alessandra!) and get some skincare prescribed by Laura of Evolve Beauty & S5 Skincare.

Gorgeously Green Gathering is my favourite annual event due to its personality, intimacy, and just how damn informative it is. Nothing has been confirmed for 2017 yet, but I really am hoping that GGG continues for a few more years! For now though, you can enjoy some of the (minimal) photos I managed to take and stay tuned for some reviews!

Review: Myroo Starflower & Orange Blossom Skin Boost Serum
IMG_0524.png

Today, I'm going to be reviewing the brilliant Starflower & Orange Blossom Skin Boost Serum* from Myroo - a brand that I was introduced to at the Gorgeously Green Gathering this year. We were lucky enough to receive this little gem in our goody bag and frankly, I haven't looked back. Don't believe me? Look at how much I've used since September! And had I not already had so many facial oils to use up, I probably would have already made a repurchase.

This wonderful serum is jojoba based - something that has always worked wonders for my fickle skin which is horribly prone to blocked pores and closed comedones. You've probably heard this already, but jojoba oil is very similar to our own sebum and so it is brilliant for cleaning out the pores of oily skin - AKA mine. I've been using this of an evening (layering over a floral water and under a moisturiser), and it has been keeping my skin super happy. My blackheads are nowhere to be seen and my skin has never been so glowy. My closed comedones are proving to be a little stubborn but this is balanced out by my unaffected skin, which has never looked better.

I'm particularly impressed with the efficacy of this serum, because of the fact that it's such good value. This bottle will only set you back £15 and it is full of amazing ingredients. I've already mentioned the jojoba, but this is joined by wonderful rosehip, borage and raspberry seed, as well as others. You can find a full ingredients list below.

Overall, I've been super impressed by this serum and I've currently got my eye on another of Myroo's products: the oil cleanser. You should definitely check out Myroo and also follow Rachael on Twitter; I had the pleasure of meeting her at GGG, and she's such a lovely human!

Have you tried anything from Myroo?

Ingredients: Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil, Rosa Rubiginosa (Rosehip) Seed Oil, Borogo Officinalis (Borage) Seed Oil, Aleurites Moluccana (Kukui) Seed Oil, Olive Squalane, Rubus Idaeus (Raspberry) Seed Oil, Tocopherol, Citrus Aurantium (Neroli) Flower Oil, Citral*, Geraniol*, Farnesol*, d-Limonene*, Linalool*, Rosmarinus Officinialis

* Naturally occurring in essential oils

Gorgeously Green Gathering 2015

Lovely group pic c/o Rachel!

Yesterday marked the end of Gorgeously Green Gathering; the highly anticipated green beauty networking event that was planned and organised by three of my wonderful friends: Rachel, Sarah, and Jen. The event was buckets of fun and I cannot say a big enough thank you to the ladies for organising it - they did an absolutely wonderful job!

The event took place at a hotel in Swindon so my journey started pretty early at about 5pm the afternoon before. Rhys and I (because I couldn't help but drag him along), packed ourselves in to my little car and we began the arduous two and a half hour drive to the location. We arrived at the hotel for about 7:15pm and of course I then had to swing by Sarah & Amber's room for a good chat and gossip about what was to come the following day (there may have also been some chocolate eating).

The event started bright and early Sunday morning and despite the 'strict' schedule, we got a little behind... a room full of beauty brands and bloggers? We were chatting of course! I was on a table with Amber, Tamara, and Malin and yes - there was lots of chatting. It was brilliant to meet all the brands that attended, especially Elijah from Bodhi & Birch who I've been talking to on Twitter for a while. His presentation was also incredibly inspiring and it was great to hear about the background behind the brand and all its gorgeous scents. I was also very lucky to meet Rachel from MyRoo, Olga from The Rose Tree, and Kim from Botanical Brands. A representative of Weleda also attended and although I actively choose not to use the brand, it was interesting to hear about their long history. Lots of lovely fellow bloggers were in attendance and it was brilliant to finally put some faces to the names that I have been following for so long. I didn't manage to take too many pictures during the talks because unfortunately, the lighting in our conference room was a lot to be desired!

After a slap-up lunch (which included some amazing vegan sandwiches), we were really in for a treat during the Botanical Brands portion of the day. Kim had brought along a HUGE selection of makeup from Living Nature & Lippy Girl, and we were dazzled by a wonderful makeup demo. Two of my favourite ladies, Amber & Ailish acted as makeup artist and model, and the demonstration also featured the new brushes from Bathing Beauty which I have promptly added to my Christmas wishlist. I think that you can still check out a recording of the makeup demo on Tamara's Periscope but be quick as it won't be around for long! We also received a Lippy Girl lipstick in our goody bags. I got the shade 'Surf Betty', and then later - during the charity raffle - I picked up two more! Lucky me! I'll be doing a blog post with swatches at some point over the coming weeks. Our goody bags also included lots of goodies from the brands in attendance, so thank you very much to Bodhi & Birch, The Rose Tree, MyRoo, Botanical Brands, Weleda, and everyone that contributed!

I had an absolutely fantastic day. Just want to give a final massive thank you to Rachel, Sarah, and Jen - same time next year girls?
